Aimée

Teacher

Hi, I am Aimée Scorza a Teacher at Eureka Learning Center. While I am at school you can often find me sitting on the floor, engaging with children. This creates time for me to learn each individual child with their unique personalities and temperaments. I value this “floor time” as a means of connection and opportunity to build trust. This foundation supports my understanding of the social dynamic in the classroom and helps to guide and support children’s social and emotional growth. I value working closely with my team, creating meaningful plans for each child’s readiness. I connect with children over shared interests such as gardening, crafting, reading and music. My curriculum weaves in opportunities for children to be “Earth Protectors”, practicing ways of caring for our earth and learning about making a difference. I joined Eureka Learning Center is 2020 creating an engaging enrichment program and providing support in the classroom during the pandemic. I look forward to returning back to the Transitional Kindergarten program as a full time teacher.

I look forward to sharing my years of experience as a professional nanny offering parent coaching and as dedicated teacher in an early childhood classroom. I am the mother of two lively, exceptional middle school boys. Through my parenting I have grown as a human with an awareness in acceptance, understanding and always leaving time for fun! I recognize the importance of hands-on learning, self-regulation and viewing the whole child as competent and capable. I am grateful for my education and training in the field of ECE. My continued participation in workshops and classes bring a professional lens while working with families. When I am not at school I enjoy walks on the beach, crafting, and time with my family, including our Kitty.

While I am at school you can often find me on the yard setting up obstacle courses, science projects and most of all fun sensory table activities. I enjoy connecting with the children over shared interests such as tinkering, building and creating. I discovered Eureka Learning Center while participating in the Teacher Mentor Program through City College. My 19 years of experience in both the Preschool school and the Transitional Kindergarten have shaped my teaching practice.

My tool box is filled with teaching strategies that support children’s developing confidence, building relationships and an overall joy of learning. When away from school I enjoy spending time with my family, cooking and taking urban hikes. I volunteer for an organization that raises funds and awareness about Aids medication for those in need.  Core Early Childhood classes along with CPR and first Aid training support my work with children and families

While I am at school you can often find me reading books with the children, expanding dramatic play themes with fun props and dictating children’s amazing words and stories.  I enjoy connecting with the children over shared interests such as cooking, open-ended art and storytelling. I discovered Eureka Learning Center while participating in the AmeriCorp program. My 18 years of experience in both the Preschool and the Transitional Kindergarten have shaped my teaching practice.

Through the use of reflective-teaching I create a responsive classroom that recognizes the unique qualities of individual children while prioritizing their social and emotional development.

Teacher planning sessions allow for intentional curriculum that reflects the interests of the children. I model a growth mindset, and support collaboration amongst the children with peaceful conflict resolution.  While facilitating Eureka Learning Center’s enrichment classes I create fun extracurricular classes. When away from school, I enjoy cooking plant-based meals and spending time with my family and Beso my cat.  I hold a teacher permit and a degree in Early Childhood Education. Workshops and trainings support my enthusiasm and motivation in the classroom.
